Who is Joe Dillon?
Joe Dillon is a nutrition and performance coach who has been speaking professionally on optimal health since the late 1970s. He swam as an All-American, then served as a fitness and drown-proofing instructor for the United States Marine Corps and was wounded in Vietnam two weeks before the end of his tour. He spent eight years with the Mission Viejo Nadadores swim club, working alongside twenty-two Olympic gold medallists, and has since coached Ironman winners, world-champion bodybuilders and a long list of chief executives through YPO and Vistage. He still runs his own practice, The Joe Dillon Difference.
Joe spoke for EnergyFirst for many years and has been a friend of the company for most of its history. He has had a long-standing commercial relationship with EnergyFirst as a speaker for the company, which is worth knowing when you read what he says about the products here.
What is on the six CDs
Six discs, about an hour each. You can listen in the car, on a walk or at the desk, and most people go back through them more than once.
- Which supplements are worth taking, and which are not.
- Which foods to build meals around, and which to leave on the shelf.
- How to set goals you will still be keeping in six months.
- How to build a training week that survives a real working schedule.
- Why protein at breakfast does more work than any other single change.
Why whey protein isolate keeps coming up
Joe returns to protein more than any other topic, and to whey isolate in particular. An isolate is roughly 90% protein by weight, with very little lactose or cholesterol left in it, which is why it is the easiest way for most people to close the gap at breakfast. If you want the detail, our whey protein guide covers what an isolate is and how it differs from a concentrate.

The same method is on this site in writing, free, with nothing to buy: the seven steps of the EnergyFirst Program, and the eighteen-page Quick Start Guide. The CDs are Joe’s longer version of it, in his own voice.
