Summer —the busiest traveling season of the year— is quickly approaching . If you're like a lot of people, you tend to eat more healthily at home than you do when traveling for business or pleasure. But it doesn't have to be that way. With a little planning and, yes, a little self control, you can eat just as well on the road as you do at home–and come home weighing the same as you did when you left!

Wholesome Snacks that Pack Well

A good way to ensure that you have wholesome food available to eat when hunger strikes you during your travels is to pack and carry your own healthy snacks. Beware of Layovers

Inside the airport, steer clear of the many fried food options and home in on the fruits and vegetables. And a growing number of airports contain restaurants that serve fruit smoothies.

Don't Overeat When Eating Out

When eating at restaurants during your travels, there are some simple things you can do to avoid consuming too many calories. Say "no" to soft drinks and alcohol and drink water or unsweetened iced tea instead. Order a salad and eat it before you entree arrives. And don't automatically clean your plate. The portions at many restaurants are absurdly large. Eat slowly and stop when you feel comfortably full, not stuffed.
