Our story
Founded in 1997. Owned and run by a nutritionist since 2004.
Mike Stevenson and Joe Dillon started EnergyFirst in Redondo Beach in 1997, out of a simple frustration: most protein powders that tasted good were built on cheap whey concentrate, sucralose and fillers, and the ones with a clean label tasted like chalk. The answer was a whey protein isolate from grass-fed cows, cold-processed so the protein stays intact, sweetened with stevia leaf extract and nothing else. As far as we know it was the first stevia-sweetened whey isolate on the market, and it is still what we sell today.
In 2004 Gerry Morton, a nutritionist, educator and endurance athlete who had been drinking it through his own Ironman training, bought the company. He has run it ever since. He holds a Master of Science in Nutrition, has finished four Ironman triathlons and more than fifty marathons, and still starts every morning with the same shake we ship to you.

2004Gerry Morton acquires EnergyFirst through NutriScience Corporation, takes over as CEO and moves the company to Manhattan Beach.

What we make
Three products. Never more than a handful of ingredients in any of them.
We would rather make a few things properly than a catalogue of things adequately. Every product is manufactured in the USA and sold direct, so there is no distributor markup and nothing sits on a shelf for a year.
ProEnergy® Whey Protein Isolate
Grass-fed, rBGH-free, cold-processed. 20 g of protein and 90 calories a scoop, sweetened with stevia. Five ingredients in the vanilla, six in the chocolate, one in the unflavored.
Citrulline, creatine, beta-alanine and BCAAs with 110 mg of natural caffeine from green tea and green coffee bean. Zero sugar, nothing artificial, 10 calories.
Whey protein isolate from grass-pastured cows never treated with rBGH or rBST, filtered cold so the protein is not denatured.
Stevia leaf extract as the only sweetener, in every flavored product.
