Kids and blood sugar

Statistics suggest that more children have blood sugar concerns than at any other time in the history of our country! And I don’t think it takes much to figure out why...

I believe that the number one culprit is the lack of exercise that many of our kids are getting. Playing outdoors has been replaced with sitting inside with video games, and many kids are moving much less than ever before.

Consequently, we’re a nation where, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 20% of our children are overweight. (This is according to 2005-2006 statistics. The number could be higher now.) This can’t be allowed to continue.

I’m calling on all parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to do what you can to maintain the health of the children in your life. Encourage outdoor activities where they have to jump and run and play, like we used to.

Also, consider giving them a multi-vitamin. Like adults, our kids are eating foods that aren’t nearly has nutrient-rich as they once were, so they, too, need to supplement.
