Contact us for a return authorization number, then send the product back to the address we give you. Returns are reviewed by our returns team and refunded to the original payment method, less the original shipping charge. After 30 days a return is credited as store credit instead of a refund.

Yes. One opened package of each product qualifies for a refund. If you bought a case and opened two jars of the same product, the second opened jar is not refundable, but the unopened ones are.

Concentrate is filtered less, so it keeps a good deal of the milk sugar, fat and cholesterol; a cheap concentrate can be under 50% protein and carries enough lactose to trouble anyone who is lactose intolerant. An isolate is filtered until it is 90% or more protein. ProEnergy is a cold-processed, cross-flow microfiltered isolate: 20 g of protein in a 90-calorie scoop, zero sugar, zero fat, zero cholesterol, from grass-fed cows not treated with rBGH. Liquid whey is separated from milk, then cross-flow microfiltered through ceramic membranes at low temperature, without acid or ion-exchange chemistry, so the protein keeps its native structure along with the minor fractions (immunoglobulins, alpha-lactalbumin, beta-lactoglobulin) that ion exchange strips out. It is then dried, blended with natural flavors and stevia (vanilla and chocolate) and packed. Nothing is heated to the point of denaturing at any stage.

Yes, and so is every whey protein sold legally in the United States: the milk is flash pasteurized for about 15 seconds at 72°C (161°F), which causes very little denaturing. No further heat is applied to our whey after that. If a company tells you its whey is unpasteurized, ask them how.

From dairy herds that are pasture-grazed and grass-fed and are not given recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH or rBST) or routine antibiotics. Our whey is not imported from China. We were, as far as we know, the first company to offer a naturally sweetened, low-glycemic whey protein isolate, in 1997, and sourcing the milk this way was part of the reason it took so long to launch.

The isolate process removes nearly all of the lactose and the jar is labelled safe for the lactose intolerant. It is still made from milk, so if you have a milk protein allergy (rare in adults, and different from lactose intolerance) do not use it.

The wording is a labelling rule: to print “gluten-free” a product must be made in a facility that makes nothing but gluten-free products, so ours reads “no gluten”. Our manufacturer is cGMP-certified, lines are cleaned between every run and runs are scheduled to avoid cross-contact.

Non-GMO, yes. Certified organic, not yet: our supplier guarantees in writing that the milk comes from grass-fed cows not treated with rBGH, but the supply of certified-organic whey raw material is still too limited to build a product on. We hope that changes.

Stevia leaf extract has been sold in the United States since 1996 and has GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status from the FDA. We have used it in ProEnergy since we created the product in 1997, when nobody else was.

Casein is the cheap part of milk protein; it is widely used to give protein bars pliability and to cut cost, and it is harder for many people to digest. It does absorb more slowly than whey, and there is a place for that before bed, but for breakfast and around training the fast, complete profile of whey is what you want. If you want a shake to sit longer, add a spoon of nut butter or flax; fat slows the whole thing down.

Settling. Whey is light and fluffy when it goes into the jar; as the air works out of it the powder compacts, and a knock in transit compacts it further. We fill by weight, not volume, so a jar holds the 908 g (2 lb) on the label whatever it looks like.

Sealed, at room temperature, away from heat and damp. Unopened, it keeps to the date printed on the jar; once open, use it within a few months and keep the lid on tight. Do not store the scoop wet.
