The mind/body connection is very real indeed. Go to the nearest mirror and start thinking about a situation which conjures up negative emotions. Maybe a fight with your spouse, or something about your body you don't like. Try making some negative statements: "I can't do this. I will not change. I am not worth it. Look at my fat body. It will never get better than this."
Now, watch your body's posture and notice your facial expressions. Your natural tendency will be to slump and frown. And at the same time, your heart will start to race, and you feel stress rising within you.
