Healthy Snacking Tips for you and the kids!

Do you ever get caught in a situation where you are out running errands with the kids, or so engrossed in work that you skip meals and end up ravenously hungry, usually for sugar or other junk food? To avoid the blood sugar blues and the cravings, fatigue, and mental sluggishness that results, it is important to be "proactive!" Always have healthy snacks available for you and your children!

Try these quick, healthy snack ideas:
  • Keep celery and carrot sticks stored in Tupperware in your refrigerator at all times.
  • Keep a supply of raw almond butter and raw tahini in the refrigerator
  • For a quick snack that will satisfy your sweet tooth, spread raw almond butter on slices of apple, pear, or peach or for something more savory, dip carrot or celery sticks into raw tahini (sesame paste)!
  • Keep bowls of raw nuts and seeds and fresh fruit on the counter so that it's the first thing you see when you walk into the kitchen. Grab a handful of raw nuts and a piece of fruit to give you a quick and nutritious energy boost.
  • To satisfy cravings, mix 2 scoops Chocolate EnergyFirst Whey Protein Isolate into 1 cup of non-fat milk, or for something different, try almond, soy, or oat milk.
To avoid being caught away from home in a low blood sugar situation with only vending machine food to bail you out, always carry healthy snacks with you! Before you leave home:
